Season 2001 - 2002
A Season of Bad Boys

Our Season 2001 - 2002 was our second full season in the Palace and without question ACT I's most ambitious season ever, including nine productions!  Our season opened with our children's theatre series by ACT I STAGE! presenting two productions in repertory, one a triple bill!  The season began with The Emperor's New Clothes followed the next morning by the triple bill of The Red Shoes, Henny Penny, and Stone Soup.  The Main Stage Series brought with it our first ever productions of works by Stephen Sondheim and William Shakespeare -- A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum in October, followed by Romeo and Juliet in February / March, and the Main Stage Series ended with our hit production of the uproarious Ray Cooney British farce, It Runs in the Family.  The Events Series kicked off in November with an original work by a local musician, titled appropriately enough Words and Music by Skeet Powers.  The Events continued in January with a vocal recital, Intermezzo II.  Our readers' theatre production of The Titanic Disaster Hearings was our first ever mini series, recreating the U. S. Senate hearings into the Titanic disaster, opening on the 90th anniversary of the convening of the original hearings.  The Events Series concluded in June with another vocal recital, Family Affair, performed as part of the Party in the Park celebration.

Season 2001 - 2002 also included three original productions created especially for ACT I!

Performers making their debuts during Season 2001 - 2002 included Blake Hanson, David Arnold, Jared Parmater, Brandon Jolly, Nick Schumacher, Angie Nebola, and Rob Glass.
