1996 - 1997 saw our first all youth show, the revival of the only show we have ever produced twice, and our final appearance at the Old Creamery Theatre. And with the closing of the Creamery, we also began our quest for a home of our own. Though we were offered the Old Creamery building in Garrison for one dollar, we respectfully decided to keep looking. Two intriguing possibilities held our interest: the possibility of a gift of land for new construction adjacent to Tilford Middle School; and the potential purchase and renovation of the former Palace Theatre in downtown Vinton. Among our performers, the season saw the first appearances of Ryan Calderwood, Halane Cummings, Clare Horst, Erin Horst, Austin Karr, and Kurt Karr.

This delightful musical revue was our first all youth show, serving as a prototype for ACT I STAGE! inaugurated during the 1998 - 1999 Season. Produced during a day camp sponsored by ACT I, the show was 21 days from first rehearsal to final performance.
The
Girls in 509
by
Howard Teichmann

Our second production of The Girls in 509 (to date, the only show we have ever staged twice) had the distinction of being the last live performances ever given at the Old Creamery Theatre, which was used continuously by the professional company for twenty-five years. After demolition of the most deteriorated portions, the remainder of the structure was converted to non artistic uses and now, sadly, exists in a badly deteriorated state.

Vinton Country Club - Dinner Theatre, Vinton

Director: Edwon Yedlik
Technical Director: Mary Dee Phillips
This offbeat mystery featured classic drag performances by Ron Baldwin and Austin Karr. by Howard Lindsey and Russel Crouse
This show will be best remembered for its curious example of "life imitates art." In the second act the comedy darkens as Mother is stricken with a life threatening case of food poisoning. On the morning of what was to have been the first performance of the second week of the run, director Steve Arnold, (stuck with playing the title role after better actors turned it down) was also stricken with a serious case of food poisoning and hospitalized, forcing cancellation of the show's second week. The cast was able to schedule one final performance the following week.
