ACT I introduces Second Stage! Summer Theatre Camp in Van Horne!

The Cast of Mother Goose Memoirs poses after their first week of rehearsals!

Campers performed five skits and a camp song, "Give Us a Rhyme, Mother Goose" for parents and friends at a Camp Open House on June 4.

Synopsis...

Mother Goose Memoirs is a delightful tale explaining just how those beloved Mother Goose rhymes and verses came to be published. The musical, set in modern times, begins when a few enthusiastic children convince Mother Goose to publish her fanciful stories, pleading “Give Us a Rhyme, Mother Goose.” Mother Goose uses everyday life experiences as fodder for her collection of unusual rhymes.  She needs little help marketing her ideas with well-meaning friends and local gossips spreading the word of her upcoming book in song, "Have You Heard the News?” In the end, the rhymes and verses take on a life of their own and everyone wants a copy of the book, signed by Mother Goose, of course!

Director Mary Horst introduces the show.

The children urge Mother Goose to write her memoirs.

The Old Woman in the Shoe urges Georgie-Porgie to stop kissing girls.

Jack suffers a terrible bump upon the head from falling down the hill.

The Queen of Hearts bemoans not only the loss of her tarts but also the fact that Humpty Dumpty has just fallen off their wall.

The King of Hearts laments that things are completely out of control.

All the king's horses and all the kings men fail to put Humpty Dumpty together again.

Dysfunctional couples . . . Mr. and Mrs. Jack Spratt, Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater and his wife, and the Crocked Man and his wife all appear on the Hair Springer talk show.

A commercial interruption during the talk show for Rub-a-Dub Cleaner

The Master meets the Muffin Man while Little Boy Blue remains under the haystack making Little Bo Peep feel better.

Word gets around quickly about Mother Goose's new book of memoirs, with the Muffin Man, the Master, the Dame, Little Bo Peep, Little Boy Blue, and the three little kittens and their mother, all getting into the act of spreading the word.

Channel 8 News interviews the Cat with the fiddle regarding the cow jumping incident.

The Jumping Cow along with the Cat with the fiddle are cornered by the papparazzi.

And the dish ran away with the spoon.

Everyone gathers for the book signing by Mother Goose.

Mother Goose (wearing the shawl knitted from the fleece of the black sheep) signs copies of her new book for eager admirers.

"Give us a rhyme, Mother Goose!"

This whimsical set piece was the eye popping focal point of the production and featured clever detailing detailing such as pie plates for eyelets and webbing from an old lawn chair used as a shoestring.
