Proscenium and Apron

Because the Palace is a dual purpose facility, the proscenium and apron need to work for both films and live productions. The movie screen, which is rolled up and down as needed, is housed directly behind the proscenium arch. The Palace stage has an unusually large apron (that portion of the stage in front of the proscenium) so as to create proper distance between the house and the movie screen, while still allowing live productions to move as close to the audience as possible. A large curtain to be drawn across the proscenium was deemed unnecessary.
