I’ll Be Home For Christmas (1999)

Introduction

A Variety Show
December 3, 4, and 5 1999
The Palace Theatre, Vinton
Masters of Ceremonies: Matt Salger, Austin Karr

ACT I’s opening show in the Palace Theatre was a fun filled holiday package to delight all ages! A wide range of acts featured dance, comedy, piano, bells, and plenty of holiday singing with performers of every age from all over Benton County coming together to celebrate the beginning of new traditions as the dream of the Palace Theatre at last became a reality!

Kevin Bookmeier directed the production, a well deserved honor for a young man who in many ways is the very personification of ACT I. Kevin, a 1999 graduate of Washington High School in Vinton, became involved with ACT I as a seventh grader, and this year’s Variety Show is Kevin’s twentieth production with us. Very likely, Kevin has held more positions with ACT I than anyone else in the history of the organization. He has worked in every phase of the technical side of theatre and his talents as an actor, singer, and dancer have been displayed many times on our stage. He has held the positions of crew head, assistant director, assistant technical director, stage manager, technical director, board member, and property manager. In addition, Kevin, along with Matt Salger and Austin Karr, has contributed countless hours of volunteer labor to the Palace Theatre, saving ACT I thousands of dollars. Kevin has also done backstage work for five productions at Theatre Cedar Rapids.

Congratulations, Kevin, on your years of dedication to ACT I and for your first production as director!
